Don't you wish you had a friend in Newfoundland who could help you plan your trip to the island? Someone who could tell you the best place to eat fish and chips, where to find a lookout where you can spot puffins nesting on the cliffs or find that hiking trail not listed in the guide books.
Both a printed map and an online interactive map have been developed by National Geographic to do just that. The highlighted businesses and attractions have been nominated to the map by local Newfoundlanders who want to share what makes Eastern Newfoundland so special to them.
Nominations must meet National Geographic's definition of Geotourism
Geotourism is defined as tourism that sustains or enhances the geographical character of a place—its environment, culture, aesthetics, heritage, and the well-being of its residents.
