What does the Bonavista Peninsula have to offer during the Spring Season?
Take a chance on iceberg season and drive along the Bonavista Peninsula in search of our magical ice castles from the north while checking out some of the locations where scenes of the upcoming film The Grand Seduction were shot.
Hike Skerwink or one of the the other 5 trails in the recently developed for the Hike Discovery Trail Network, which lead to awe inspiring rock formations, beautifully built lighthouses and coastlines with views that will stop you in your tracks. Photograph the Root Cellar Capitol of the world, Elliston, where you might spot the puffin colony returning from life at sea to nest for the season or take a peak over the edge at the Dungeon Provincial Park in Bonavista.
Visit some of Newfoundland’s abandoned, but not forgotten, outports with captain Bruce Miller on his Rugged Beauty Boat Tour in New Bonaventure, as he brings his own personal stories of these disappeared communities to life. For those booking in late May, the seven historic sites of Trinity will be open, turning the town into a living museum of sorts. Pick up your historic sites access pass and drop in to speak with the smith at the forge or visit the town cooper.
In the evenings, relax and put up your feet on the Twine Loft deck. Pass the time capturing that perfect picture of the setting sun. Sip on a Newfoundland beer or perhaps a martini with gin crafted from iceberg water. We know it can get chilly being right on the water, so we have cozy blankets on hand to keep you warm.
For dinner, guests will experience a candle lit multi course meal in the Twine Loft dining room, prepared by the local cook in our open kitchen. While it is a set menu, a fish and meat option will always be offered and vegetarian and gluten free options can be prepared by advance request. Our well trained local staff will be happy to answer your questions about the area and help you plan your next day.
In the mornings, return to the Twine Loft for complimentary continental breakfast including: fresh baked muffins and tea buns, homemade jams, cereal, yogurt, fruit, toast, coffee, teas and juice. Hot Breakfast items may also be purchased.
