The Official Guide To American Historic Inns
Bed & Breakfast And Country Inns, 8th
Edition, 2002
by Deborah Edwards Sakach (American Historic Inns, Inc.)
"Combining the amenities of an upscale inn with the essence of a living museum, this B&B was built with the full-studded construction typically use on the wood-rich Bonavista Peninsula. Situated in a historic coastal village, offering spendid views of the Atlantic Ocean, the heritage-designated restored buildings include two cottages that easily accommodate families. Romantic guest bedrooms instill a peaceful tanquility. After a delicious breakfast, relax on the waterfront decks and breathe deeply the sea air before exploring the town or strolling the hills and meadows of this four-acre retreat."

"This heritage home was built around 1840 for an Irish navigation teacher,
James Campbell, considered to be the foremost nautical teacher in
Newfoundland at a time when Trinity was a thriving commercial center with a
bustling harbour. A 1993 Southcott Award-winner for excellence in
restoration, Campbell House is furnished with period antiques and offers a
magnificent view of the ocean from every room. Throughout June and July,
you might even spot an iceberg or two from your bedroom window! Members of
the host family are ardent gardeners and musicians, and may treat you to an
impromptu concert of traditional fiddle music..."

"Trinity boasts the best places to stay on the island. Tineke Gow personally oversaw the restoration of the historic building. Which was an 1840s house. Careful attention was paid to maintaining the authenticity of the property. Rooms are spacious and comfortable with luxurious touches such as down comforters and views of the lovely harbour. Loyal guests return here year after year for Tineke's excellent hospitality and hearty breakfasts. A cottage nearby is also part of the property. You must reserve well in advance for July and August."

"Campbell House is in the village and within an easy walk to everything. This beautifully restored 1840 house is set in an authentically restored outport garden. Coffee and tea are always available…A tidy two bedroom cottage on the shore has a kitchen and a porch overlooking the fishing wharves."

"This handsome 1840 home and its nearby cottage – both clad in traditional white clapboards with green trim – are set amidst lovely gardens on a twisting lane overlooking Fisher Cove. All four rooms have waterviews. Two rooms are on the second floor of the main house and have a nice historic flair, even to the point that they’ll require some stooping under joists if you are over 5 foot 10inches tall. The other two rooms are in a lovely and simple pine paneled cottage just below the gardens, and feature an adjacent waterfront deck and a full kitchen on the first floor. Reserve well in advance for July and August, when the inn rarely has a free room."

"Trinity has a half a dozen charming B&Bs, foremost of which is the Campbell House on High Street. A handsome early Victorian house, perched on a hill in the west part of town. The owner also has two cottages down the hill, and serve excellent breakfasts featuring such local delicacies as partridgeberry crepes."

"The old fashioned appeal of this stately residence, which stands in the middle of the towns historic area, has been well preserved thanks to meticulous preservation work. The rooms are charming and prettily decorated. From Campbell House there is a beautiful view of the town and the ocean."

"Deep green and rose slate from Newfoundland's Random Island forms a path which greets visitors and guides them from the back patio into a modern kitchen with a panoramic view of the harbour. At the foot of the terraced period gardens and a meadow of wildflowers, a little red roof at the water's edge complements the colours of the surrounding hills and harbour."
