Painting the Bight

Art Exhibition and Sale
in the Twine Loft

Sep 1 - Oct 9, 2007

Watercolour paintings featuring the 12 communities of Trinity Bight

A recent ‘come from away’, Cathy has been living in St. John’s Newfoundland since 1999. Completely taken with the Trinity area, she and her husband bought an old outport house in Champneys West, Trinity Bay and are now able to be there in the summer.

Trading her workwoman’s tools for paintbrushes, she can now fully explore the area with an artist’s eye. The 12 communities of Trinity Bight are the subject of this exhibition. New Bonaventure, Old Bonaventure, Trouty, Dunfield, Goose Cove, Trinity, Trinity East, Port Rexton, Champneys Arm, Champneys West, Champneys East and English Harbour. She will be painting outdoors in the towns and along the coast all season and welcomes visitors on her painting excursions.

Cathy paints primarily in watercolour, however her art work includes printmaking, drawing, sculpture and lamp-making. She exhibits widely in the St. John’s area and keeps a home studio and gallery open to visitors. See page 34 of the Craft Council Studio Guide.

Her paintings are in the collections of the Province and of the City of St. John’s and are shown in several galleries in the St. John’s area:

  • Home studio and gallery: 115 Gower Street, St. John’s
  • Craft Council of NL shop and gallery in Devon House, St. John’s
  • Pollyanna Art and Antique Gallery, St. John’s
  • Memorial University Botanical Gardens, St. John’s
  • 5 Island Gallery, Tors Cove
  • Commissions are welcomed. Let Cathy paint a memoir of your special vacation in Newfoundland.
